Business Challenge

¿Would you like to acquire the skills to identify key areas that need improvement in your company? Are you seeking greater competitiveness and efficiency in your processes? Do you wish for your company to have a positive impact on the community?

In 9 weeks, you will learn a methodology that will enable you to identify and implement improvements in your business, making it more competitive, profitable, and with a positive impact on the community. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to win a $5,000 prize and hours of business consulting to propel your business to success.

Session #2: Define

– Define the main business problems

– Select and argue the problem to be solved

– Describe the problem statement

– Define the SMART objective

Session #3: Measure

– Ishikawa diagram to identify causes

– Definition of activities to be measured

– Techniques for collecting reliable information

Session #4: Analyze

– Analyze the results of the collected information

– Identify possible causes of the problem

– Identify strengths and opportunities for improvement

– Development of the current process

Session #5: Improve

– Define activities to solve the problem

– Scheduling of activities in the short and medium-term

– Customized material review

A progress review of the final project will be scheduled for each company.

Session #6: Control

– Graph how the ideal process should be compared to the current one

– Define actions or tools to control the proper development of the plan

– Define indicators

Session #7: Impact on the Company and Community

– Identify the impact on different areas of the company when implementing process improvements

– Socially responsible companies: concept, sustainable objectives, and examples

Session #8: Business Consulting

A business consulting service of one and a half hours will be scheduled for each company to address specific improvement issues.

Session #9: Project Presentation and Closure

– Presentation of each project to the DAS consulting team

– Course closure

– 30 companies will be selected (limited slots available)

– The company must have been operating in the market for a minimum of 1 year

– Must have 3 or more employees working or subcontractors

– The company must be legally registered in the State of Arizona

– Spanish language proficiency is required

– Attendance and punctuality are expected

Finance for Non-financial Business Owners

Questions like “Should I open or close a branch?”, “Will I have enough money to cover my expenses?”, “Is it advisable to operate a second or third shift?”, “How do I know if I’m making or losing money?”, “Is my company profitable?”, among others, can be addressed during the Finance for Non-Financial Professionals course.

The course will cover, in a practical and straightforward manner, topics such as financial concepts, financial statements, financial information analysis, financial and operational budgeting, among others. Additionally, it provides participants with the necessary foundations, exercises, and tools to understand and make better financial decisions in their company.

Participants can bring and use their financial information during the activities (the information will not be shared, it’s for practice purposes).

Session #1: Main Financial Concepts

– Current Business Context.

– Understanding Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow): their purpose, the information they provide (Profitability, Liquidity, Debt, Break-even Point).

Session #2: Financial Information Analysis

– Identifying expenses, costs, and investments.

– Pricing strategies based on cost structure.

– Decision-making based on financial information.

Session #3: Financial and Operational Budgets

– Understanding the main budgets and their importance in the business.

– Company planning based on budgets.

– Decision-making processes.

Session #4: Budget Preparation

– Identifying information for financial and operational budget preparation, its uses, and applications.

Session #5: Integration and Application of Concepts

– Relating valuable financial information for decision-making.

– Activity: generating and interpreting financial information.

Business owners, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in learning how to make better decisions based on the financial aspects of a business. No prior knowledge or experience in finance is required.

The Business Fundamentals Course will provide you with the tools for the success of your business.

Participants will be able to apply essential tools to improve the operational effectiveness and competitiveness of their companies in a globalized and constantly changing environment.

In the course, you will learn about topics such as Legal Requirements, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Family Businesses, Human Resources, Processes, among others. And in the final class, the Final Transformation Project will be presented, which will allow you to achieve a significant transformation in a selected area of your company.
