The Best Hispanic Entrepreneur of the year 2017
“It’s a dream,” Maria de la Luz Galicia, owner of Luciernaga Development LLC, said after being handed with the first place $5,000 award for the contest. It all took place Wednesday morning, during DAS Foundation’s 2nd Annual Business Award Breakfast at Eduardo’s Reception Hall in Mesa, AZ.
De la Luz Galicia was among five finalists, chosen by the foundation based on a business plan, which was the final project after a series of training courses attended by the participants as part of the program. All business plans received were reviewed and judged based on different criteria, including presentation, thoroughness in research and the potential for impact in the community.
Sandra Flores, owner of Azukar Coffee was awarded with 2nd place,
followed by Esther Moreno, owner of MEM Cleaning Services, LLC in 3rd,
Cindy G. Castillo, owner of Cindy G. Castillo, LLC in 4th and Fernando Pinal,
Owner of Puppet Signs in 5th. “This event offers a huge support,” Flores said,
“sometimes we think that we’re alone [as entrepreneurs], but when you see your
community here gathered it helps so much; it motivates you to keep going, to
improve and to keep growing.”
DAS Foundation’s 2nd Annual Business Award Breakfast featured Professor
Eduardo A. Borquez, Director of the New Business Development Center (NBDC)
at Grand Canyon University, as keynote speaker, a silent auction, and a one-of-a-kind
opportunity for small businesses to network with other professionals.Regina Durán,
Founder of Duran Accounting Solutions and DAS Foundation, said this event was
made to celebrate the hard work of every single one of its participants. “It’s made to
celebrate their hard work and the trust they put into the organization to help them
kickstart each of their dream,” she said, “it was made for them, so they could network
and enjoy the moment.”
DAS Foundation continues with its mission to support and empower local entrepreneurs by hosting upcoming events, including its 4th Annual Expo Forum 2017, coming this October 4th in Phoenix, and October 5th in Mesa. Both events will be hosted at Eduardo’s Reception Hall, in both of its locations respectively.
Entrance for the event will be free, and it will feature more than 45 booths with tools and resources to help grow local businesses. Carlos Marquez, noted speaker, writer, radio and TV host will be the guest speaker for the night and applications will be accepted for the 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year Contest.
